Through the Eyes of a Lion by Levi Lusko
I’ve been loosely following the Lusko family since the unexpected death of their daughter Lenya five years ago, and ever since I heard about the release of Through the Eyes of a Lion, I knew I wanted to read it. I got myself the audio version (that is read by the author Levi Lusko himself) over Christmas and just started listening to it as I packed for vacation last week. It had me captivated from the foreword straight through the end of the book; I finished listening to it in one day. I sobbed, I laughed out loud, I had at least a dozen WOW moments, I paused it to write down notes…I was all over the spectrum emotionally. The story gripped me and the writing was superb. I felt all the emotions right alongside the author as he read. I went on my Instagram stories and recommended it to everyone I knew, just as I aim to do here.
I loved how easy to understand this book is. The author describes the intense pain of unexpectedly losing a child, and even though I’ve never had a child myself, I ached with him.
He described the spiritual lessons he learned from the experience, going from a Billy Graham quote to a Hunger Games reference. He read Scripture and related it to Spider-man and other superheroes. Any age level, from middle school up to grandparents and great-grandparents, would be able to understand and learn from this book!
The lessons in it apply to all of us, and I believe will resonate in each of us.
It reminded me again that life is precious and sharing my faith is imperative. Through the Eyes of a Lion truly shifted my perspective and inspired me, and I can’t say enough good things about it.
For anyone who hasn’t read it, please, get and read this book! I would even recommend getting the audiobook over any other version because hearing the author tell his story is his own voice adds another level of personal impact.
This isn’t a book that I signed up to promote or be an influencer for; this is a book that I read in my own personal time and that affected me so greatly that I wanted to share it with all of you. Please, do yourself a favor and listen to this inspiring story.

Callie Susanna has been a blogger for seven years but it wasn't until the end of 2017 that God revealed to her that she would be a speaker and writer. This was when she began to focus time and energy into writing. Check out her website here. Follow her on Instagram and Twitter. Callie and Elizabeth met earlier this year via a family friend who knew God was calling them to introduce the Christian bloggers. We are so glad she did!!
