True love exists.
How do I know?
I’ve seen it.
Today, while leaving Walmart an older couple had just got to their truck. He helped her in and bent down to pick up a wooden step up block he had set out for her to make it easier for her. There was also a wheelchair next to the truck. After he put the block in the trunk, he turned to make sure she was safely in and closed the door. He then got on the electric wheelchair and took it back into the store.
This brought something to my mind, love is patient….and also in sickness and in health.
Till death do us part.
Both of these people had lived long lives and were still there patiently loving one another.
This is what it looks like.
This is true love but it comes in many forms. Like my mother helping me through the depression of loss. Like my parents when my dad was still alive.
Love has many forms but all of them are marked by traits we see in one Ultimate Love.
His name is Christ. He is God and King. He is the Redeemer.
Every single story in the Bible has the one central element – need of love and lover.
He is the Ultimate Lover because He loves us at our worst and so much so He doesn’t want us to stay in it.
He wants life and He desires it abundantly (John 10:10).
When you get up in the morning is your thought who can love me better today or who can I love better?
Really the thought could be how can I love Him more today. Thinking about His love for you today, what are some things that blow you away about love? It isn’t about the Hollywood depiction.
True love is love of the Bible.
True love is patient. True love is not selfish. True love is unconditional. So when you think about who you love and who loves you I hope you realize it is more than a guy. It is even more than parents. It is God. Let Him be the definition of love we use and live by.
