Have you ever struggled with a workers mentality? I am the type of person that tends to put too much on my plate at a time. Not always is this a bad thing but when it becomes about pleasing people it is.
Being unable to say no usually has to do with a people pleasing mentality or maybe a lack of direction.
In my case, I know in the past it has been both. I hate to admit it but even after knowing the right-now-calling on my life, I ran. And I did so by making myself so busy I couldn't breathe. Have you ever done that? Ran away from what you knew you needed to do... it can be something that seems simple like talking to that girl in your class that always seems to be alone or making room in your schedule for people instead of things/activities. Taking time to have coffee with a friend that is going through a rough time or even taking time for devotions and being in God's Word.
Anytime I find myself overly stressed, it is because I have not taken time to be in the Word. I am trying to fight in my power. There is no way around that and no sugar-coated version either. But I would rather admit it and fix it than live in denial, wondering why I feel lost.
If you are feeling lost or drained today take a moment to pray and breathe.
Sit at the feet of the Savior and lay down your worries and burdens.
Maybe you can't cut anything out of your life but it is still full of chaos... I cannot urge you and myself enough to make time to spend with the Lord. Whether that looks like listening to worship music or a Christian sermon on the way to school or waking up a little bit earlier to take the time to dive into His Word - DO THAT.
Trust me, no cup of coffee will set your heart and mind at peace.
For those struggling in their power,
"For it is God who works in you to will and act according to His good purpose." Philippians 2:13
For those struggling with worries and fears,
"And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19
If you are not sure where to start a Bible study, I am currently reading through Philippians, Romans, and Colossians.
To close today I want to share this final verse with you,
"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." Colossians 2:6-7
You are dearly loved and you are never alone. He is waiting to spend time with you today in this moment.
Dear sister hold on to the truth. You are loved so much that Jesus wants to wrap you in His arms and remove everything keeping you from Him - even your pride. He wants to break through it. Don't struggle today, leave it at His feet. It is up to you but usually when we have time for nothing, especially not having time to spend with Him - we don't get anywhere. And I don't know about you but I'm just not about going nowhere. I want to go where I am meant to and not even just ending up "somewhere".
I want to live with purpose and intention. That starts with the small things, believe me they add up and you will notice a difference.
