A Challenge // Notes from South Korea

1/5/2018

As most of you know I have been in Korea for the past 3 months. So, I have missed a lot of things in that time. For instance, I missed my dad’s remaining chemo treatments, I missed my future sister-in-law’s 18th birthday, I missed my older sister’s birthday and I missed Thanksgiving with my family. I also missed Taylor, my fiancé, graduating and seeing my twin sister celebrate herself passing her classes (it’s a big deal for me). I guess it never really occurs to me how important those things were until I knew I would miss them. Through all of this the Lord has been a great comfort to me. I have been extremely blessed with the opportunity to make new friends while away. Friends that believe in the same mighty and powerful God. Friends that do not shy away from praying with me and for me.

It has been a blessing for me to be repeatedly reminded that I really can’t do life without God.

I am continuously broken down on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis and I have been convicted that I have not been obedient to God. So, I’m working through what obedience looks like. The steps are scary, painful, and filled with doubt but I know God is faithful. He’s proven it to me again and again.

There is this book that I am reading called Finding Your Way Back to God by Dave and Jon Ferguson. They have this prayer challenge called The Wager.

The Wager is where before you begin your day you pray,

“God, if you are real, make yourself real to me. Awaken in me the ability to see that you are what’s missing from my life”

for thirty days.

Now, I haven’t finished the book or the participation guide or even The Wager. But this prayer is changing my heart. I wanted to share it with you because want it to change your heart too. It is up to you though if you take the challenge or not.

The scripture that goes along with this study is one that was written inside of a journal I received before leaving for Korea. It is Jeremiah 29:13, “you will seek me and find me when you seek with all your heart.” I think this scripture it perfect for this book and challenge and it’s been really pressed into my heart during this season of my life. I feel obligated to warn you though that if you really start seeking God be ready for change and challenge. The enemy does not want us really seeking God. The enemy will come after you with everything he's got on you. It will be difficult but oh, is it worth it!

If you guys want to take the challenge please do! And let me know! You can get into contact with us here at Lace Devotion via the contact tab or you can always email me personally at lindseyelong@gmail.com.

With love,

Lindsey
